From 19 to 23 May 2025, representatives of the German-Ukrainian peer-to-peer learning network for integrated urban development met for the fourth time – this time in Warsaw.
Filderstadt, Poltava’s twin town, was welcomed as the newest member of the network. The cities reported on current developments and numerous activities within the framework of bilateral and trilateral cooperation. These included, for example, joint funding applications, work shadowing and digital exchange. In addition, the participants gathered feedback and recommendations for the implementation of their own projects during collegial consultations. In particular, topic-specific groups discussed issues such as barrier-free planning, neighbourhood management and affordable housing.
Presentations and excursions held by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction (BMWSB), CEDOS (an independent Ukrainian think tank) and the Warsaw Institute for Urban and Regional Development (IRMIR) shed light on the topics of municipal housing construction in Germany and Poland and housing reforms in Ukraine.
bgh. Gauly & Volgmann supports the D4UC project in preparing and implementing the German-Ukrainian network and was involved in organising and moderating the meeting. The first network meeting took place in Leipzig in September 2023.
