bgh. Gauly & Volgmann, in partnership with Rania Al Sweiti and commissioned by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, is supporting the Jordanian municipalities of Azraq, Zarqa and Greater Amman in establishing structures to maintain rehabilitated public spaces and parks.
A key feature is the creation of so-called “space management committees”, comprised of residents and users of the parks. These committees are meant to cooperate closely with the respective municipalities and other stakeholders.
Jointly with Rania Al Sweiti, an expert based in Jordan, bgh. Gauly & Volgmann provides international practices on green infrastructure management and participation, advises on the creation of suitable organizational structures as well as on the creation of training material. Given Jordan’s role as a host country for many refugees, social cohesion and integration are a special priority in these approaches.
Target groups include Local Development Units, mayors, guards, space management committees, park visitors and neighbouring institutions (e.g. mosques, schools, CBOs).
