Gauly &amp; Volgmann, in association with independent consultants Maria M\u00f3nica Salazar and Catalina Duarte, was commissioned to elaborate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metropolis.org\/sites\/default\/files\/resources\/European_Metropolitan_Report.pdf\">European Metropolitan Report<\/a>. This report is a part of a series of Metropolitan Reports that analyse the situation of global metropolises in different regions of the world. The report is based on a sample of 16 metropolises and draws a complex and nuanced picture of the economic, ecological and social challenges and opportunities faced by metropolises in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, it also highlights the importance of two fundamental elements for developing a common metropolitan approach to urban challenges at the European level. Firstly, the historical administrative fragmentation of the region poses specific challenges, particularly regarding data gathering and<br \/>\nthe efficiency of public policies. Secondly, rapid urban growth, especially in third-tier cities, has transformed the scale of urban challenges, which now transcend the local level and its jurisdictional boundaries and take on a supramunicipal scope.
