Bürogemeinschaft Gauly & Volgmann (bgh.) in cooperation with Christoph Goldstein and Maya Kovac, has conducted a feasibility analysis for the development of an integrated urban development programme with a focus in social cohesion in Serbia with the aim to improve the living conditions in marginalised Roma settlements.
The analysis looks at transferable elements of the German “Social City/Social Cohesion” programme and identifies ways in which these elements of integrated urban development can be adjusted and implemented in the Serbian context.
Several interviewees with a role in the implementation of the “Social City/Social Cohesion” programme in Germany contributed to the collection of core principles, implementation tools and schemes, potentials and lessons learnt. Likewise, under the lead of Maya Kovac stakeholders in Serbia provided their perspectives on risks and potentials of implementing such a programme in Serbia. In workshops, relevant stakeholders from local and national level elaborated the way forward for formulating and implementing such approach in Serbia.
