Urban Development Agencies – Potentials for the Sustainable Management of Cities in the Global South

bgh. Gauly & Volgmann has conducted a study that examines urban development agencies worldwide, taking into account local contexts and the different mandates and motivations for their establishment. It provides evidence on the extent to which UDAs are suitable as institutional instruments for planning, financing and implementing urban development projects.

As a result of the study, our team formulated recommendations that reflect the success factors for developing the potential of urban development agencies and the challenges and risks faced by these institutions worldwide. These recommendations aim to contribute to public policy formulation and knowledge management of German development cooperation on this topic.
