Elaboration of the Global Sustainable Community project in Baden-Wuerttemberg to implement the 2030 Agenda

The Municipal Initiative for Sustainability in collaboration with the Service Agency Communities in One World (Servicestelle Kommunen in der Einen Welt/SKEW) created the project “Globally Sustainable Municipality in Baden-Württemberg”. The project offers ten municipalities the opportunity to develop a municipal sustainable development strategy based on the 2030 Agenda. Sustainable development strategies provide orientation and are the basis for sustainable development locally and worldwide.

Together with Luciana Maia, Bürogemeinschaft Gauly & Volgmann (bgh.) have been commissioned for this project.

The project is implemented over a one-year period and includes the following measures: Initial advise and orientation for ten municipalities, conducting network meetings with the project municipalities, stocktaking of sustainable activities based on the so called N!-Report for municipalities in Baden-Württemberg, as well as moderation and elaboration of internal administrative training events regarding the integration of the Agenda 2030 into municipal practice. In addition, the working group will advise and accompany the municipalities in the development of a municipal sustainable development strategy to engage in the development of the SDG action program.

The ten project municipalities are Bad Säckingen, Bad Saulgau, Göppingen, Ilsfeld, Lahr, Landkreis Böblingen, Landkreis Karlsruhe, Laupheim, Ludwigsburg and Ravensburg.

SKEW is implementing the project in cooperation with the Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Management of Baden-Württemberg.
