The Department of Housing and Urban Renewal of the city of Leipzig has initiated the “Quartiersmanagement Paunsdorf” (neighborhood management Paunsdorf) as part of the “Social City/Social Cohesion” program. bgh. Gauly & Volgmann has been commissioned with the implementation of the neighborhood management.
The district Paunsdorf as a focus area of integrated urban development (INSEK Leipzig 2030) has considerable socio-economic development needs, particularly due to the socio-demographic developments of recent years. The integrated neighborhood management is a core element of the social development of urban districts. As the central interface between the city’s politics, policy and administration and the neighborhood population and institutions, the neighborhood management takes on a mediating function.
The neighborhood management Paunsdorf focuses on the following topics:
- Education and health
- Neighborhood
- District culture
- Communication and networking
Regular Programs
Within this framework, the Neighbourhood Management Paunsdorf organizes a variety of regular programs. These include:
- Weekly neighbourhood walks (Mondays, 9:00 AM and Tuesdays, 9:30 AM)
- Neighbourhood café (Tuesdays, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM)
- Cooking project “Cook & Talk” (Fridays, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Heilsarmee Leipzig)
- Neighbourhood management office hours (Wednesdays, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Thursdays, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM)
- Sewing group (bi-weekly, Fridays from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
- “Paunsdorf Conversations” – moderated discussion format on current social topics in cooperation with Paunsdorf Library and VHS, every last Monday of the month from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the neighbourhood office
- Free legal consultation (cooperation with the Saxon Bar Association; Wednesdays in even weeks, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM)
- Community police officer office hours (one Wednesday per month, appointments upon request)
- Psychosocial consultation hours (cooperation with St. Georg Hospital; every 3rd Friday of the month, 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM)
- AVE Project: Integration counselling for women with migration experience (cooperation with the German Employee Academy; Thursdays in even weeks, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, appointment required)
